I guess I should stop and talk about tattoos and body modification since I have been really heavily modified over the past few days.
For me body modding has multiple values.
1) I think it is beautiful and I want to beautify my body for my own pleasure and for the pleasure of my partner.
2) The aspect of the rites of manhood that are inherent in the pain of the body mods.
3) Body Modding is art
4) Body Art can mark important times and be reminders of important things
Beauty and Art are of course in the eye of the beholder. This beholder places body art firmly into the realms of the beautiful and sometimes the terrible but always the artistic. I have seen tattoos that blow me away and I want that art work on me. To carry around and to enjoy.
My body art enters me into the fraternity of manhood, a fraternity that reachs back past our civilised ancestors to the very dawning of humanity. My body mods also mark me as a member of the deviant sector of society. I am proud to be a member of both of these groups and proudly wear my badges of membership.
While my tats and piercings won't be on display in an museum, it is art and it was crafted by artists. I am a walking gallery of the craft of multiple artists.
All three of my tats are markers of my life. The Dead Kennedys symbol is a reminder of my youth and the great times and people that inhabited it.
My wife is a marker of my present and of the love that we share and the children that we have raised together.
The Hylian Symbol/Tri-Force is a marker of Zelda the first game I got for my NES back at the begining of my home console owning days and as a touch stone to Link the boy I wish I was. Zelda is a very powerful symbol in my life since so much of my life is wrapped up in gaming and Zelda is one of those games that pulled me into the world of interactive entertainment. Plus I hope it will help to remind me to act as a keeper of the Tri-Force should. With Honor and Commitment.
Anyway just got a pair of new tats yesterday.
The first tat is the name of my wife in Japanese Katakana script
Here
The second is the Hylian Symbol from Link's shield in the Legend of Zelda. The symbol is also all over Hyrule Castle in Twilight Princess
Here
My wife also got my name enscribed on her back in Katakana

That Hylian tattoo is utter shit. I hope that isn't real.
I hate to tell you, but the extension of the 'ka' character is supposed to be a vertical line when the script is written vertically. :[
The way it is now, the horizontal line reads as 'ichi' or 'hito' because it looks like the kanji for one. Essentially, it reads as "sukaichiretto" instead of the "suka-retto" or "scarlet" that I think you were going for.
